Bamboo Incense Charcoal from Shoyeido.

Type A - Smaller rectangular charcoal pieces can work with most incense censers.

Imported from Japan.

For use with a censer and ash, this slow burning, low-smoke bamboo charcoal is perfect for indoor use. Contains no saltpeter, sulfur or other burning accelerants. Burns up to 40 minutes.

Box contains 48 pcs.

Basic instructions for use: Using a set of tongs or tweezers, light the edges of the charcoal with a flame. When edges are lit, place the charcoal into a censer with ash. Fan the piece of charcoal with a card rather than your breath. When burning, you can place tiny amounts of raw non-combustible incense materials (tree resins, dried herbs) directly onto the piece of charcoal. Advanced techniques can be explored by researching Japanese Kodo ceremonies.
